Analogue broadcasting

Our company is currently responsible for broadcasting one public and two commercial television channels, using a surface network that covers the whole of the country.

Presently 17 backbone and 122 relay stations are operated for M1 (Hungarian Television), ensuring 97 per cent population coverage. For transmitting tv2 14 backbone transmitter equipment and 56 relay stations, and for RTL Klub 12 backbone transmitters and 35 relay stations are used. Both commercial transmitter networks cover 86 per cent of the population.

The distribution of television programs is done through our own national digital microwave backbone network.

The NICAM system, which serves as a value-adding service, is available country-wide for all three television channels.

Using an appropriate roof-antenna or, on favourable terms, an in-door antenna the population can receive terrestrial television broadcasts, without any subscription fee.
