Successful web streaming by Antenna Hungária during the Summer Olympic Games

The technical background - Content Delivery Network; CDN - of the Summer Olympic Games webcasting by MTVA in HD quality was provided by Antenna Hungária.

During the 17 days of the Olympic Games altogether 135,000 viewers connected to the webcasting. The most watched sport event was played on August 8, a handball match between Hungary and Iceland, where after a fierce fight and a double overtime, the Hungarian team won. The webcasting was followed by more than 29,000 viewers requiring around 35 Gigabit per second of bandwidth.

Besides the HD broadcast, 3D live stream provided by Antenna Hungária proved to be very successful, this application was the debut in Hungary for the public. The program of the M3D test channel was available for the Hungarian web users in two different formats during the Olympic Games. For the anaglyph version no special screen was needed, just a glasses with red-blue filters, so the stereoscopic image was available for anyone having a traditional monitor or TV as well.
