Frequency changes at eleven digital terrestrial television sites - analogue M1 repeater in Barcs will be switched-off end of October

The National Media and Infocommunications Authority according to the resolution of the European Union to realize the ’digital dividend’ range will begin the vacation of the 790-862 MHz (UHF channels 61 to 69) frequency band. To this end, the Authority ordered the execution of frequency changes regarding eleven digital terrestrial television sites. Antenna Hungária is obliged to execute the frequency changes during October-November 2012, which will affect the reception of the free-to-air MinDig TV and the pay-TV MinDig TV Extra digital terrestrial television services.

The National Media and Infocommunications Authority according to the resolution of the European Union to realize the ’digital dividend’ range will begin the vacation of the 790-862 MHz (UHF 61-69 channels) frequency band. To this end, the Authority ordered the execution of frequency changes regarding 11 digital terrestrial TV sites.

Antenna Hungária is obliged to execute the frequency changes during October-November 2012, which will affect the reception of the free-to-air MinDig TV and the pay-TV MinDig TV Extra digital terrestrial television services. Each of the eleven cases, the frequency of the Multiplex ’C’ will change, concerning the free-to-air commercial channels of MinDig TV, as well as all MinDig TV Extra channels can be found in the Basic package. Furthermore, in three areas the frequencies of the Multiplex ’A’ will change too, affecting the free-to-air public channels of MinDig TV.

According to the decision of the Authority, after the execution of the frequency changes, on October 31, 2012 the analogue M1 repeater transmitter in Barcs will be switched-off. Hereinafter the terrestrial reception of the public channels in this city will be available only through the digital terrestrial reception. In case of Gerecse site the frequency change concerns the analogue M1 transmission, instead of the present UHF 46 channel the program of M1 will be available on the UHF 36 channel via analogue reception. In case of analogue TV2 transmission in Tatabánya the frequency change will also take place, instead of the present UHF 26 channel the analogue program of TV2 will be available on the UHF 52 channel.

In the concerned areas of the frequency changes the digital terrestrial receiver devices (DVB-T MPEG-4 set-top-box or integrated TV set) should be re-tuned after the change will be executed. Some of the devices will do this automatically, but in some cases launch of manual re-tuning will be necessary if the viewer finds that some channels do not appear in the channel list correctly.

In ten cases the frequency changes will not concern the population coverage of the digital transmitters; in these cases it is not necessary to change the position and the direction of the antenna. In small part of the Gerecse transmitter zone the frequency change, however, affects the transmitter coverage area, so in some settlements at the border of the coverage zone it is necessary to switch to a different transmission site (i.e. Kab-hegy, Budapest, Győr, Nagy-Hideg-hegy, Dorog, Zirc) to receive the digital terrestrial broadcasts. The antenna must be redirected toward this alternative digital site and after this the receiver should be re-tuned.

According to the plans of AH the retuning of the digital transmitters will be executed on the above mentioned dates, due to the works the digital transmission – and in several cases the analogue terrestrial TV channels – will be suspended for couple of hours.

We apologize for the inconveniences caused by the frequency changes and thank the understanding of the concerned viewers.
