Digital transmission changes of the nationwide commercial TV’s - The reception possibilities of the commercial TV programs will be enhanced further

Antenna Hungária will form a public service multiplex on its digital terrestrial television network as of September 30, 2011. In order to achieve this, several programs should be moved from Multiplex A to Multiplex C including the two most popular nationwide commercial channels, RTL Klub and TV2.

Antenna Hungária will form a public service multiplex on the Multiplex A of the DVB-T network as of September 30, 2011. In order to achieve this, several programs should be moved from Multiplex A to Multiplex C including the two most popular nationwide commercial channels, RTL Klub and TV2.

Furthermore, the reception possibilities and the image quality of MinDig TV and MinDig TV Extra services will be enhanced further by changing several parameters of the network (in particular the GI – “Guard Interval” will be changed from 1/8 to 1/4) regarding all three DVB-T multiplexes. As a result of these improvements the reception conditions of the commercial television programs will be extended significantly. The most noticeable improvements are expected on the Great and Small Plains. In some places, where previously the reception of the digital terrestrial television programs was possible with a rooftop antenna only, now it may happen that an outdoor antenna, installed near to the window or an indoor antenna will be perfect for a stable reception.

As of October 1, 2011, the program of RTL Klub will also be available in 16:9 aspect ratio on MinDig TV, the free-to air digital terrestrial television offer.

The multiplex change primarily affects those viewers, who watch the commercial programs by a rooftop or indoor antenna as part of the MinDig TV service. It doesn’t affect the analogue terrestrial transmission of RTL Klub and TV2.

Continuous transmission with the new parameters. Earlier switch-on is possible, depending on the work completed. The receiver settings can be performed only after the switch-on.

What should be done?

The user’s manual of the set-top box or the TV-set, or the on-screen information should be followed. Due to the wide variety of devices in each case a different process should be done. Many devices will perform the retuning automatically, some of the equipments only offer this option and in some cases the automatic retuning should be launched manually. Very important, that all of the changes can be executed only after the morning shutdown as of September 30.
